Whether you’re skiing the lake, fishing the river or cruising the coastline, Veritas Insurance specializes in covering boats and personal watercraft. When you’re out on the water, you should be concentrating on having fun, not worrying about your friends, family or watercraft being involved in an accident of any kind. Let one of our agents provide you with a personalized insurance plan that will meet your watercraft, and budgetary needs.
Considering the type of boat you own, the ways you use it and the waters you navigate, we’ll structure the right policy to protect you, your passengers and your watercraft. You can enjoy your days on the water, knowing you’re properly protected from the unexpected.
You have choices when it comes to protecting your watercraft in the event of a total loss:
Total Loss Replacement: provides the highest level of protection. This coverage is available as long as you are the original owner of the boat. Your boat will be replaced, up to the first five model years, with a new boat of the same (or most similar available) make and model – even if your boat model is more expensive at the time of loss than it was when you purchased. After five model years, your policy will cover your full purchase price, minus your deductible. Total Loss Replacement coverage may not be available for personal watercraft in some states.
Agreed Value: if you’re not the original owner of your boat, Agreed Value coverage is an excellent choice. If you experience a total loss at any time, this policy will cover the full purchase price of the unit, minus your deductible.
Actual Cash Value (ACV): this type of coverage will pay the actual depreciated value of the boat or PWC at the time of total loss, minus your deductible. ACV is the least expensive type of coverage. If your boat or PWC is financed, ACV coverage coordinates well if you’ve purchased GAP protection from your dealer or finance company. GAP protection ensures that your loan balance is paid in the event it exceeds the value of the watercraft at the time of loss.
Liability Coverage: protects against bodily injury as well as property damage that you may cause with your watercraft. We can help you select the level of protection that best meets your needs and budget. You can also select a policy that covers uninsured, or underinsured drivers, in the event someone else is liable to you, and carries insufficient or no insurance.
Personal Effects Replacement covers the personal items within your boat such as cameras, phones, clothing and camping gear.
Fishing Equipment provides coverage for rods, reels and tackle stored on or off the boat.
Roadside Assistance provides 24-hour protection in the event of a covered emergency while the watercraft is being towed or being loaded or unloaded from its trailer. This coverage extends to the tow vehicle and covers on-site labor as well as towing to the nearest qualified repair facility.
Trip Interruption provides coverage for lodging and transportation expenses in the event your trailer or tow vehicle becomes inoperable and you are more than 100 miles from home.
On-water towing coverage provides tow boat services to get you and your boat back to the dock or repair facility in the event of a mechanical breakdown, grounding or fuel shortage.
Mechanical Breakdown coverage pays to repair or replace breakdowns occurring in the lower unit of the motor (drive train). In some cases, this may even include wear-and-tear and defects. This coverage is complimentary to, but does not take the place of, an extended service contract that may be available from your dealer or finance company.
Extended Navigation provides coverage when navigating beyond the standard off-coast limit of 75 miles. If you’re planning to navigate to the Bahamas, you’ll need this coverage – which is available on watercraft 26’ and longer with at least two motors.
Fuel Spill and Wreckage Removal: you don’t have to worry about the recovery of your boat’s wreckage, as well as any fuel spilled. Clean-up and recovery can be expensive, but with this coverage, you won’t have to worry about any accident on the water.
Disappearing Deductibles provides a reduction in your deductible for each claim-free renewal. You can achieve a zero-dollar deductible in a few as four renewals!
